  • school communications with parents, staff, students
  • school marketing communications
  • referencing various consultants, specialists, and vendors

I am an academic advisor and typically work in K-12 school settings on a long-term sustained basis. I am mostly available to discuss matters over a call/mail and planned visits to schools for observations, sessions with students, teachers, parents, and board meetings as per mutually decided frequency.

Having been part of starting, setting up, and running schools I enjoy sharing my expertise and sharing experiences with new teams and supporting existing ones to realign and/or renew their efforts in education. I have experience with schools that follow the IB, IGCSE, ICSE, and CBSE curricula.

Parent and Child Mentoring Coach

I advise parents on an ongoing basis on their choice of school and curriculum that would be most suitable for their children to choose from at various stages of their schooling years.

I am an experienced educator and school advisor with a passion for fostering strong family dynamics through effective communication and support. Over the years of varied and close interactions, I have honed my skills as a Parent and Child Mentoring Coach, specializing in key areas that contribute to the holistic development of families, focusing on the child’s well-being and development at all times.

  • Communication Skills:

I work with parents and their children to develop effective communication strategies to deepen their understanding of their children. I help young children to express themselves constructively, fostering an environment where open communication thrives.

  • Conflict Resolution:

Navigating conflicts within families is one of my areas of strength. I guide parents and children through disagreements, emphasizing the importance of understanding and compromise. My coaching includes teaching conflict resolution skills and highlighting active listening and empathy.

  • Goal Setting:

Collaborating with families, I try to identify and nurture individual and collective goals, whether academic, personal, or relational. I try to guide families especially students in creating action plans that are their own, short-term and realistic, fostering a sense of accountability, accomplishment and motivation.

  • Emotional Intelligence:

Recognizing the pivotal role emotions play in family dynamics, I work with parents in managing their emotions as positive examples and role models for their children.. I also help children to develop emotional intelligence, enabling them to navigate their feelings and understand others. As both parents and children understand each other’s strengths and challenges, there is more patience and understanding along with support.

  • Time Management and Balance:

Acknowledging the challenges of modern family life, my effort goes into working with parents to create effective and child-appropriate time management strategies. I teach children the importance of balance across academics, extracurricular activities, and personal time.

  • Stress Management:

Understanding the stressors of parenting, I give long-term, non-judgmental support to parents, promoting a healthy and positive family environment. I equip children with stress management techniques to navigate challenges and academic pressures.

  • Positive Reinforcement and Discipline:

I work with parents to guide them in implementing positive reinforcement techniques and effective discipline strategies, fostering a healthy parent-child relationship. I help parents set clear expectations and boundaries while maintaining a supportive environment.

  • Educational Support:

Drawing on her background in education, I work towards providing guidance on educational matters. Towards that, I assist parents in understanding and supporting their child’s learning style and offer resources for effective parent involvement in education. Identify possible passion projects, subject choices, and reading/listening/watching materials to stimulate thoughts and motivate.

  • Building Resilience:

I am dedicated to fostering resilience in both parents and children. I regularly work with families to help them navigate life’s challenges with a positive mindset and encourage a growth mindset in children, viewing challenges as opportunities for learning and development.

  • Cultural Competence:

Recognizing the importance of cultural diversity, I assist families in navigating cultural differences, promoting an inclusive and understanding family environment. I provide support in raising culturally aware and respectful children, especially adolescents.

I bring my expertise and empathy as an educator to my Parent and Child Mentoring Coach role. The sessions are pre-scheduled, online, on camera, and take about 6 to 8 months of weekly 40 minutes of interactions to start to show impact. For every 2 or 3 interactions with the child, one interaction with either/both parents is a pre-requisite. During the course of coaching and mentoring, I might suggest additional interventions like psychological/aptitude tests/career counseling, and/or curricular/co-curricular support from other experts as appropriate.
